Photo GalleryThe school holidays were a busy time for some students, with cricket, rowing and cadets providing opportunities to develop skills, take on challenges and enjoy new experiences.
Our cricketers returned from Sydney last week following a memorable tour that combined competitive cricket with sightseeing. The boys competed against Cranbrook, Newington and Shore, producing several standout performances. Highlights off the field included climbing the Sydney Harbour Bridge, touring the SCG and NSW Cricket Centre, and visiting Manly Beach and the Sydney Opera House. Thank you to Shore School, our coaching staff and families for their support.
Christ Church rowers spent four days in Eaton at the annual October training camp, completing seven challenging sessions focused on developing their technique and preparing for the upcoming regatta season. Nick Sumich, Teacher in Charge of Rowing, was pleased with the boys’ progress, motivation and willingness to embrace the challenges of the camp. Our rowers are now preparing for the House Regatta on 24 October, Aquinas Regatta on 31 October, Guildford Regatta on 14 November and Trinity Regatta on 28 November. A big thank you to all the fathers who supported the boys throughout the camp.
Meanwhile, 44 cadets attended AFX26 at Bindoon, demonstrating commitment, perseverance and teamwork in challenging conditions. Activities included marksmanship, abseiling, advanced field training and specialist communications and engineering courses. Five cadets also completed the Junior Non-Commissioned Officers Course.
The Unit took home the Senior Skill-at-Arms Trophy, with CDTLCPL Jack Wu named Champion Shot and becoming the inaugural recipient of the WA-AAC Advanced Marksmanship Award. CUO Samuel Porter was runner-up. Congratulations also to Jack, Samuel and CDTCPL Inura Kondasinghe on earning Australian Army Cadet Marksmanship Badges.
