A supportive community

Where Every Student Belongs

From the Preparatory School through to the Senior School, every student is welcomed into a House community. Belonging to a House gives students more than just a group to identify with – it provides a supportive community where friendships are built across year levels, school spirit is fostered, and individual strengths are celebrated.

In their House, students participate in a wide range of activities, from academic challenges and the Arts to Sport and service initiatives. These experiences encourage healthy, friendly competition while also developing teamwork, leadership and resilience.

Preparatory School

Four vertical House groups exist for students from Pre-Primary to Year 6. With a mix of year groups, this creates an opportunity for staff and students to build relationships with other staff and students across year groups.

Senior School

Students are allocated to one of eight Houses and will remain in this House until they graduate. Each house has eight tutorial groups comprising students from Years 7 to 12. This structure provides opportunities for role models and mentors and a sense of belonging.

The Spirit of House Competition

Within House Groups, students participate in a program of carnivals and competitions, which contribute to winning a shield or cup

The Giles Shield in the Preparatory School and the Beatty Cup in the Senior School are hotly contested and awarded to the House with the most points from a variety of competitions, including Swimming Carnivals, Cross Country, House Arts, House Shout, and Athletics Carnivals.

These events encourage every student to extend themselves, whether through athletic endeavour, artistic expression or performance. Participation helps to nurture qualities such as teamwork, leadership and sportsmanship, while also fostering a strong sense of belonging to their House.

The House system ensures that each student feels a strong sense of belonging and connection within the wider School, creating a foundation for personal growth and lasting memories.
