Excellence in Education
Empowering Young First Nations Leaders
Christ Church has a proud history of providing outstanding educational opportunities for young Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander men since the 1950s. Our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Program awards scholarships to boys with the potential to be leaders in their community and allows the opportunity for all students to experience and understand our nation’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island heritage.
Culture at the Heart of Learning
Each year, students in the program participate in a range of cultural incursions and excursions and take an active role in organising events for Reconciliation Week and NAIDOC Week celebrations. A highlight of the year is the annual NAIDOC Week art exhibition, where students produce an artwork to share with the School community. The program also offers targeted academic support through dedicated tutoring, along with mentoring from past students in the program.
Scholarships
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students are encouraged to apply for a range of scholarships that are available. These scholarships are awarded to students of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander heritage at various entry points into the Senior School. Opportunities are available for both boarding and day students, with scholarships covering the duration of the student’s education at Christ Church.
