Non-English Speaking Applicants
Student’s wellbeing is our first consideration when making decisions about the entry and instruction of an EAL/D boy. Christ Church has a high standard of academic excellence and students require a satisfactory level of proficiency in English before enrolling. Christ Church provides EAL/D classes across Years 7 to 12, however, the School is not an intensive language centre.
International applicants must sit an entrance test administered by Australian Education Assessment Services (AEAS). This can often be done in your home country. Results of the test must be included with your application, and a place at the School is conditional on reaching the required standard prior to enrolment. For this reason, we require mandatory re-testing by AEAS before final enrolment, the results of which are used to ensure optimal placement of students in regard to year level and choice of subjects.
If you are applying for a position between Years 1 and 3, the School may choose to interview you and your son to determine his proficiency with the English language, as the School is not an intensive language centre. The School may make an offer conditional upon successful completion of an intensive English program prior to commencing at Christ Church Grammar School.
