Reading Ambassadors inspire a love of reading
05.11.26
A new initiative in the Preparatory School Library is putting the joy of reading in the spotlight, with ten Year 6 students stepping up as the School’s first Reading Ambassadors.
Launched this year, the program gives the boys an opportunity to share their love of books, encourage younger readers and help make reading an enjoyable part of Preparatory School life.
One of their favourite initiatives is ELC Reading, where the ambassadors give up their recess time to read stories to younger students. From discovering new characters to enjoying a favourite picture book, the sessions are a chance for the younger boys to explore the world of reading while building connections with their older peers.
The ambassadors will also recommend books, share reviews and reading tips, and help bring the library to life through displays and activities.
Guided by Mrs Gaskell, the program is giving the Year 6 students the chance to develop their leadership skills while inspiring the next generation of readers.
