Developing confidence, camaraderie and teamwork
Excellence Through Movement
Sport and Physical Education is central to the Christ Church experience. Physical Education is part of the curriculum, focusing on skill development, fitness, health, and enjoyment through activities such as Swimming, Athletics, Martial Arts, and Parkour. Sport takes place beyond the classroom, where students train and compete in summer and winter competitions. Supported by expert coaches, outstanding facilities, and opportunities for state, national, and international tours. Christ Church is proud to be part of JPSSA and PSA sport.
A Foundation for Movement
Physical Education
Physical Education is part of the academic curriculum from Pre-Kindergarten through to Senior School. Lessons focus on movement, coordination, and the development of personal fitness, helping boys understand what is needed for an active and healthy life.
Preparatory School
From Pre-Kindergarten onwards, boys develop fundamental motor skills, balance, and coordination. As they progress, students are challenged to refine their skills through games, athletics, and activities.
Senior School
Students are introduced to health and fitness education, strength and conditioning, and lifelong movement programs. They gain insight into nutrition, wellbeing, and personal goal setting, preparing them for sporting involvement as well as healthy living.
Compulsory sport is a vital part of the Christ Church experience, fostering not only physical fitness but also teamwork, resilience, and discipline. Sport also provides opportunities for leadership and camaraderie, helping students build strong friendships while engaging in healthy competition.

Team Membership
Compulsory Sport
Compulsory sport is a vital part of the Christ Church experience, fostering not only physical fitness but also teamwork, resilience, and discipline. Through regular training and competition, students develop skills that extend beyond the playing field, learning the value of commitment, perseverance, and fair play. Sport also provides opportunities for leadership and camaraderie, helping students build strong friendships while engaging in healthy competition.
Inspiring Performance and Team Spirit
Coaching Excellence
Christ Church is proud to employ an exceptional team of sports coaches, including nationally and internationally recognised talents. The School acknowledges that students enjoy playing both school sport and participating in local clubs, and actively supports this balance. Senior School students in Years 7 to 9 play sport on Friday afternoons, while those in Years 10 to 12 compete on Saturday mornings, ensuring every student can experience high-quality coaching and meaningful competition.
High-Performance Sports Program
Christ Church runs a high-performance sports program designed to prepare elite junior athletes for the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead. Guided by our understanding that giftedness extends beyond academics to include physical talent, we recognise and nurture students who show exceptional athletic potential. With specialised training pathways, academic flexibility, high-performance coaches dedicated to athlete development, our program empowers students to excel in their chosen sports while growing as confident, well-rounded individuals.
Preparatory School
In Years 3 and 4, boys engage in a variety of sports, including cricket, basketball, football, soccer, rugby, hockey, and compete every term in a participation-based inter-school competition with Scotch College and Hale School.
In Years 4 to 6, students participate in Thursday afternoon sport as part of the broader co-curricular program.
In Years 5 and 6, students compete in weekly fixtures against other Junior Public Schools Sports Association (JPSSA) schools and train once a week before or after school.
Senior School
Students commit to both a summer sport (Terms 1 and 4) and a winter sport (Terms 2 and 3) as part of the Public Schools Association (PSA) competition. Training and fixtures are compulsory and supported by highly skilled coaches. The Athletics program runs during Term 3, gaining momentum at the conclusion of the winter season and culminating in the PSA Inter-School Athletics Carnival.
